About the Artist

Hi there! 

 I'm Diane Hunt and for over 40 years I have been creating oil paintings of the places that have fascinated me and touched my heart and soul. 

I live on a small farm in the countryside of Maryland's eastern shore, not far from the Chesapeake Bay. I am also not more than an hours drive to the Atlantic ocean. The closeness to nature has given me endless inspiration with water a feature in many of my paintings.

Water has been a major influence my entire life. My family has a history being around, in and on the water. Growing up spending summers at beaches stretching from Long Island sound to the mid-Atlantic, I spent hours exploring the shore-lines and watching how water moves. Sometimes there is a calmness and gentleness to the waves. Other times they can be quite strong but either way they show the heartbeat of the earth. There is a deep connection to us that we can feel, giving us a sense of peace and renewal when we are near bodies of water.

It is very important to me that I help people to keep that connection with our beautiful oceans as well as the rest of the natural world that makes up our planet.

Acting as a bridge, my artwork creates a connection, between you and the beautiful landscapes that you care about.

My paintings help you to preserve the natural beauty of the world around you. Art has a power to be a lasting legacy. It serves as a reminder of how important it is to be good steward of this planet we all call home.

When I'm not in the studio, you can usually find me outside playing with my dogs, goats or horses. Or maybe out on the water in a boat or at the beach. Being outside enjoying the natural world around me will always hold a special place in my heart! It is my happy place!

I have a BFA ’79 (Bachelor of Fine Art) from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. I've since, taken classes both in person and online to further improve my skills. I've been in many shows over the years and my paintings are in numerous private collections. I'm a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, American Artists Professional League, The American Society of Marine Artists and the Plein Air Painters of the Chesapeake Bay.
