The dogwood tree is one of the early flowers that bloom in the spring. The flowers come out and bloom even before the leaves unfurl. This is a pink one from my yard. They also grow wild here in the state of Maryland but are a white variety and you can spot them growing in wooded areas as you travel along the roads letting you know that spring is on its way.
